The Gastric Segmentation is probably the least expensive operation for severe obesity. The total cost is approximately $10,500. Some health insurance companies approve benefits for it, depending on the policy and according to a list of requirements. Others have exclusions for the treatment of obesity. Medicare and Medicaid have recently developed special criteria for this type of surgery.

If your health insurance policy offers coverage for weight loss surgery, after the office visit we will send to the insurance company a “Letter of Medical Necessity,” requesting approval for the operation. It is very helpful to obtain letters from your physicians, recommending the surgery, and to keep track of your efforts and results in losing weight during the previous 6-12 months. The approval may take a few weeks, but it can be shorten if the patient is actively involved in the process.

For self-pay patients, we accept cashier’s checks, debit or credit cards, and cash. We can help you in obtaining financing from companies that offer this type of service.
